What is LP Gas?

LP Gas/ LPG / Liquefied Petroleum Gas - is a hydrocarbon fuel comprising of Propane, Butane or Propylene either separately or as a blend. LP Gas is a non-toxic, non-corrosive, non-polluting, free of lead and is in abundant supply. Australia is a net exporter of LPG - supply estimates are well in excess of 20 years national demand, and potentially more than 50 years.

Why should I convert my vehicle to LP Gas?

The reasons are varied; however, they can be generally be consolidated into three main categories - Safety, Economics and Environmental. It is easy to SEE the benefits of LP Gas.

How safe is LP Gas?

All LP Gas operated vehicles in Australia have been converted to a National Standard that is recognised as being one of the strictest and safest LP Gas codes in the world. There is substantial evidence to show that an LP Gas powered vehicle is as safe, if not safer, than any other fuel available on the market today. This is reflected by the fact that no premiums are imposed on Straight Gas or Dual Fuel applications.

What are the economic benefits of LP Gas?

Even when you take into account the increased fuel consumption of LP Gas on a litre for litre basis compared to petrol fuel consumption, the pricing differential in place throughout Australia ensures that significant savings are made when you convert to LP Gas. With the LP Gas fuel Excise debate finally being sorted out, all existing and potential users of LP Gas can be assured of a significant pricing differential between LP Gas and ULP. If you are travelling in excess of 30,000 klm per annum and you intend to hold your vehicle for a few years, you should be operating on LP Gas.

How environmentally friendly is LP Gas?

When a vehicle has an LP Gas system correctly installed, tuned and maintained the vehicles impact on the environment is that it emits lower greenhouse emissions, less smog forming carcinogenic pollutants and particulates. LP Gas greatly reduces the damaging impact on human health and the environment. LP Gas is safe, viable and clean.

How many LP gas filling sites are there situated throughout Australia?

Australia has the highest number of LP Gas filling stations in the world based on a per capita basis. With in excess of 3,500 refuelling sites it is possible to circumnavigate Australia operating exclusively on LP Gas. Over half of these sites are located in rural locations.
